The County Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County operates the Calabasas Landfill located at 5300 Lost Hills Road, Agoura, California in accordance with Waste Discharge Requirements (WDR) issued by the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB). The Sanitation Districts plan to expand refuse-disposal operations to areas known as the "Northridge Cut" (NRC)located in the northeastern landfill area. The NRC area will be excavated and developed in a phased approach. Of the two resulting landfill cells, NRC Phase 1 will respresent the western cell and NRC Phase 2 will form the eastern cell.
In support of the final cut, fill and liner designs, the Sanitation Districts require that a comprehensive geotechnical investigation be performed including a thorough exploration of geologic subsurface conditions, the characterization of all geologic materials that form the foundation of the NRC landfill cell using the latest laboratory and field testing methods, and geotechnical engineering analyses for slope stability, earthquake engineering and groundwater seepage analyses. |
